Biography

Neil Jackson, an English writer and actor, got his start acting in numerous theatrical productions in London’s West End. His first lead, Jean in Strindberg’s Miss Julie, earned him critical praise and gained the attention of Jude Kelly, OBE, Artistic Director at London’s South Bank Centre, who later cast Neil as the lead in her workshop production of Queer As Folk: The Musical, also performed in London’s West End.

Neil’s work in television and film in the UK is very recognizable, having appeared in several renowned British television series including Heartbeat, Ultimate Force, Silent Witness and Red Cap, before taking the lead role in Dream Team, a popular British drama.

But it was a meeting with Oliver Stone that would push Neil’s career to the next level. Stone was casting for his historical epic, Alexander, and asked to meet with Neil after being impressed by his taped audition. Neil was cast on the spot to play Perdiccas, Alexander’s infantry general. Neil would spend the next six months in Thailand, Morocco and Pinewood Studios working alongside Colin Farrel, Val Kilmer and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Neil shot two more features that year, working with distinguished director Neil Jordan, before moving to the States to pursue his career further. In a short space of time, Neil has rapidly become ‘one to watch’ in the LA industry, having starred in flagship shows Cold Case and CSI for Warner Bros and Universal Studios. Neil also played Marcus Van Skiver, nemesis to the title character in Spike TV’s Blade: The Series; a role which again earned him critical praise both in North America and internationally.

More recently Neil has just completed work on Push, directed by Paul McGuigan and starring along side Djimon Hounsou and Chris Evans, and Table For Three starring Brandon Routh.

As a writer Neil is also gaining notoriety. In 2006 Neil wrote and starred in the Moroccan thriller The Passage alongside Stephen Dorf, produced by Lynette Howell at Silverwood Films (Half Nelson, Stephanie Daley). The idea came to him through his experiences in Morocco filming Alexander. The Passage premiered at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival.

That same year, production started on Neil's second feature script, Star Crossed, a modernisation of Romeo and Juliet, set in the world of Portuguese soccer. Both films were co-produced through Neil's production company, Paper Dragon Productions (PDP). PDP are currently in development with several projects in both television and film.

Neil currently resides in Los Angeles.
